Natural Slimming Teas
You can’t lose much weight or get really energized just by drinking a cup of tea before bedtime or in the morning. Nevertheless, certain slimming tea preparations are excellent when used as part of a total cleansing program. How?
First of all, although not ideal, you can drink a liter of green tea a day (plus another of pure water) and eat no solid food, for a couple days (no more than 3 -5) to lose a pound or two really fast before your wedding or special event. However, taking stronger slimming tea formulas that have natural diuretics herbs, like senna leaf, should not exceed a cup a day for about 7 days, and only as part of a total program of body detoxification. Such a program will also include nutrient rich vegetable juices and fiber drinks to get the colon and other organs flushed out and revitalized.
It’s important to understand that most slimming teas will contain either caffeine stimulants or diuretics. They serve the purpose of boosting the metabolism and helping to get the bowels moving, gently but swiftly. The best ones will have senna, malva, ginger, licorice root, (amongst others) and also have soothing fruit flavors (for the tummy) like peach, apricot, mint or tropical blends like papaya, passion fruit or hibiscus. The other thing to remember about tea is that while some will contain stimulants, natural appetite suppressants or even diuretics, they don’t contain large amounts of nutrients, vitamins or essential amino acids, and therefore they are only part of a cleanse or a weight loss program – not the entire diet. Tea won’t be an effective means to lose weight if you continue eating a normal high calorie carbohydrate and protein rich foods and merely add tea to the whole mess. Slimming tea is not a miracle fat burner, although some herbal teas can be excellent diuretics, stimulants and cleaning tonics when used together with a water or juice fast.
